Booking a private whiskey tasting in Rhode Island is simple.

We come to your location—home, office, or private venue of your choice—bringing everything needed: whiskey, glassware, water, and detailed tasting notes.

Events typically last 90–120 minutes, with plenty of time for discussion and questions.

  • Ocean State Whiskey specializes in private, customized whiskey tastings that come to you. Unlike large public events, our gatherings are intimate, relaxed, and tailored to your group’s interests. We combine education, entertainment, and plenty of storytelling to create a memorable experience you won’t find anywhere else in Rhode Island.

  • We typically serve groups of 2 to 20 guests. This keeps the event interactive and ensures everyone has the chance to taste, ask questions, and join the discussion. For larger groups, reach out—we’re happy to talk about options.

  • Yes! We bring a selection of whiskey samples along with glassware, water, and tasting notes etc. You’re also welcome to include samples from your own collection if you wish.

  • Yes, we welcome guests to join in on the event even if they are not trying the samples

  • Yes. While we’re based in Rhode Island, we also serve southern Massachusetts. If you’re in Providence, Newport, Warwick, Westerly, or nearby towns across the border, we can bring the tasting experience to you.

  • Most events run about 90 minutes to 2 hours.

  • We can feature a range of styles—bourbon, rye, Irish, Scotch, or a mix. You can request a focus (like American whiskeys only), or let us surprise you with a curated lineup.

  • In general, if you are hosting a strictly private event, not open to the public and I am providing a curated presentation (including donated whiskey samples from my collection) licenses should not be required.

  • All you need are tables and chairs for your guests. We take care of the whiskey samples, glassware, water, and tasting materials.

  • We recommend booking at least 2–4 weeks in advance, especially for weekends or holidays, to ensure availability.

  • Yes, all participants must be 21 or older to join in the whiskey tastings.

  • Yes! A private whiskey tasting makes a great gift for birthdays, holidays, or special occasions.

  • Absolutely. Most clients host in their homes, but we’re happy to come to private offices, or events held in private venues. We can also support curated tastings in public restaurants, bars or other places in possession of a liquor license.
